My definition of being a Christian counselor is that I help people with their problems in life through God’s wisdom from His Word.
People can be saved for years and still have deep emotional wounds from the pain of the past because of abuse (verbal, sexual, physical), abandonment, divorce, grief issues, anxiety, anger management, forgiveness, porn addiction, etc.
Romans 12:2 tells us – “be ye transformed by renewing our mind.” Hurting people’s thinking and self-talk are usually very negative. The devil delights in keeping people stuck in their emotional pain through his lies. Negative thinking creates negative feelings and actions. The devil’s lies robs the joy of salvation.
Hurting people can know Bible verses, but in their pain they do not know how to take God’s truth and apply it to their negative thinking. Even after salvation, they can feel shame, guilt, hopeless, helpless, lost, unlovable, etc.
Through my 50 years of teaching the WORD, combined with my unique Bible integrated counseling education, plus 23 years as a counselor, I help the hurting person to look at their life through God’s truth. “What is God’s truth about your situation?”
A transforming counseling scripture is Romans 8:1-2 (NKJV) 8 “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” This is one of numerous scriptures that I use to help the hurting person be transformed by renewing his/her mind with God’s truth. It is a process. It takes time and repetition to unravel the ‘stinkin thinkin’ of a lifetime and reprogram the heart, soul and mind with God’s spiritual truths.

I love teaching God’s Word for churches and conferences in all the areas of scripture – learning to live our lives to glorify Him in our body and spirit. I also teach through Skype for churches – it’s live teaching – interacting with Q & A sessions. I teach MARRIAGE seminars, sexual purity for all ages, healing for damaged emotions, being Holy as He is Holy, etc.
My heartbeat is sharing God’s truth through teaching, counseling and writing to help everyone ‘grow up into Him’ – Ephes. 4:15. God’s Holy Ghost baptism came into my life 60 years ago. God’s desire is for all to be saved and healed spiritually, emotionally and relationally. His truth sets us free!
