Paul told the citizens of Athens, “Your inscription to the unknown God is the God I know. In Him we live and move and have our being.” (My paraphrase).
The word being is defined as ‘existence, living, being alive, essence of a person.’ When we invite God into the very soul of our being, we will be totally Holy Ghost controlled. We will filter all we do through God first – doing everything heartily as unto the Lord!
Our thoughts create our feelings and we act out on how we feel. We must filter our thoughts through God saying, “God, how do I deal with this? What do I do now? God, give me your wisdom?” When we surrender our selfishness unto the Lord, it will drastically impact our life and relationships for His glory!
Marriages need to be based on the mutual foundation of commitment to God and each other. Experiencing emotional and spiritual intimacy is having the freedom in God to share our hearts with our spouse emotionally and spiritually, not just reading the Bible together or praying. It’s treating each other as we would treat God with continual love and respect. It’s the essence of who we are in our being when we choose to allow God to control our words and actions moment by moment.
God’s secret to a healthy loving marriage: Husband is to love his wife as Christ loved the church and gave Himself on the cross. When a husband sacrifices His selfishness unto God to love his wife, the husband’s reward is a wife that responds fully to his sacrificial love and fulfills his desires!
God gives the example comparing earthly marriage to our relationship to Him – He is our Bridegroom and we are His Bride – loving Him because He first loved us! (Ephesians 5).
I want God to be in complete control of my being. How I treat other people is how I am treating God. Jesus said what we do to others we are doing unto Him. We are the temple of the Holy Ghost (the house of God). So how I treat my brother/sister in the Lord is how I am treating God. It must start in the home! In Him we live and move and have our being!
