The church must become equipped in how to help the person addicted to pornography!
The recovery process is much more successful when a husband confesses this sin and seeks help by his own godly conviction.
If the husband is ‘caught’ by his wife and because she pushes him to counsel, it is not as successful because his heart is not in the process. Also, the wife feels less hurt when husband confesses first. She can believe he is sincere in his heart’s desire to heal and change.The wife of the husband that she caught using porn feels deeply betrayed because it is a continual sinning, the same as adultery in God’s sight.
Husbands, if you are using porn, please realize it is destroying your soul, mind, heart and even physical brain. No wife can compare to porn actors. The women are usually drugged, drunk, forced to perform, airbrushed. Porn use turns females into ‘sex objects’ instead of a woman who is made in the image of God.
Hope and healing are possible, but it takes dedicated work and discipline to allow God to be in total control of your thoughts, feelings, and actions. The physical brain must be rewired to godliness. You must stop having sex with self while thinking about or watching porn.
This addiction is greater than any drug or alcohol addiction – it causes brain damage, ER dysfunction, creates a lonely core inner man. Most users of porn that I have counseled were molested in childhood and then introduced to porn. They have an inner wounded soul even after salvation.

Porn addiction has invaded the church. Young and older are using porn – 50 – 76% of men/godly leaders are using porn. Youth in churches are using porn and then have ‘outer sex’ – guys influencing gals to have oral sex saying it is not sex because they are not having intercourse! God’s view: anything that is done with sexual parts of the body is having sex. Can you glorify God in your body and spirit while using porn or having ‘outer sex’ (1 Cor. 6: 18-20)?
