Hear, Speak, See No Evil

When I was a child, my mother had a small figurine of three monkeys. One had hands over his ears, the next over his mouth and the next over his eyes. Hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil. The scriptures below made me think of these monkeys.

Psalm 119:37 (AMP)

“37 Turn away my eyes from beholding vanity (idols and idolatry); and restore me to vigorous life and health in Your ways.”

Psalm 119:37 (NLT)

“37 Turn my eyes from worthless things,
and give me life through your word.”

Psalm 101:3 (KJV)

“3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.”

Psalm 101:3Amplified Bible (AMP)

“3 I will set no base or wicked thing before my eyes. I hate the work of them who turn aside [from the right path]; it shall not grasp hold of me.”

If we desire to be holy as God is holy, we need to make a covenant with our eyes to set no base or wicked or evil or worthless thing before our eyes. What we allow in our eye-gate and ear-gate will enter our heart and come out of our mouth-gate. The Bible says that it is not what goes in to our mouth that is unclean, it is what comes out of our mouth.

Matthew 15:11 (AMP)

“11 It is not what goes into the mouth of a man that makes him unclean and defiled, but what comes out of the mouth; this makes a man unclean and defiles [him].”

In providing nationwide confidential phone/Skype counseling, I work with many people who are addicted to pornography. The addiction starts with one look. When a person sees and listens to unclean, worthless, wicked, base and evil things, these will be manifested in their actions and words.

Job said he made a covenant with his eyes to not look at a young woman and lust. Job 31: 1 & 4 – “I have made a covenant with my eyes; why then should I look upon a young woman? – Does He not see my ways and count all my steps?” In the middle of Job’s adversity, he was very adamant that he needed to have a pure heart before God.

Matthew 5: 28 declares, “But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Jesus goes on to say in this passage – “if your eye offends you pluck it out!”

If Jesus were walking among us today, he would have a lot to say about the evil we allow before our eyes. He would be declaring to the person addicted to porn to repent and stop making provision for the satisfying of the flesh! If we say we love God and do not keep His commandments, we are lying. God said, “If you love me, keep my commandment.”

What is the greatest commandment?
Love God with our whole heart, soul, mind and strength. That means my thoughts, feelings and actions are to always be giving glory to God.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (AMP)

19 “Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You are not your own, 20 You were bought with a price [purchased with a preciousness and paid for, made His own]. So then, honor God and bring glory to Him in your body.”

You cannot glorify God in your body and spirit while you are viewing porn and satisfying your flesh! The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye, and the pride of life are destroying thousands of souls today. Satan is using the lust of the flesh through sexual sins to bring destruction to the entire world.

When Paul was bemoaning the fact of the war in the flesh in Romans 7: 24 “O unhappy and pitiable and wretched man that I am! Who will release and deliver me from [the shackles of] this body of death? 25 O thank God! [He will!] through Jesus Christ (the Anointed One) our Lord!”

Romans 8:1-2 (AMP) 8 “Therefore, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the SpiritFor the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has freed me from the law of sin and of death.”  Here is God’s good news: through the power of His Spirit dwelling in me, I am free from the law of sin and death. BUT I MUST CHOOSE THAT FREEDOM IN HIM!

Even after receiving the Holy Ghost, God still gives us a choice to follow His holiness or follow our flesh. If I choose to love and serve Him with my whole being, I can walk in victory! This is scripture in action: Romans 12:1-2 (AMP) “I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].”

Make a covenant now before God to hear no evil, speak no evil and see no evil. Use www.covenanteyes.com to protect all your Internet devices. Stop the evil, repent of the evil, become accountable to a godly person of same sex and present your bodies as a living sacrifice unto the Lord.

Read and apply to your life, Breaking Free by Russell Willingham and Clean by Douglas Weiss, PhD. If you desire a pure heart before God then you must do the work of being transformed by renewing your mind with God’s truth.
