ISOLATION IS A KILLER!
Interesting to hear on AFR a study about rats and addictions. When a rat was kept alone and had a liquid drug to drink, he drank so much that it killed him.
When several rats were together, they drank only 10% of the liquid drug that was provided and all lived.
The conclusion is this: People who isolate themselves with any addiction will be destroyed by the addiction. But if people stay in community or relationships with others, they are far more likely to be able to overcome an addiction and survive.
I find this truth in my counseling ministry. When a person who is desiring to overcome any type of addiction starts developing their relationship with God and others, they find the power and strength through God’s Spirit and fellowship with others who love them unconditionally to overcome!! God’s truth heals the lonely core issues of the heart!
The church is to be a healing hospital full of healing helpers so we can share God’s truth and help unwrap the self-loathing from around the wounded heart and apply God’s truth for healing!!!
