There is No Excuse for Continual Repetitive Sinning!!

Sins’s Power Is Broken

Romans 6:1-10New Living Translation (NLT)

Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.

Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. 10 When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God.

Comments: The above scripture gives direct understanding that we should not be continually repeating sins over and over again!! We are to live daily, moment- by-moment, giving glory to God in our bodies and spirit that belong to God!!! There is no excuse for repeated sin – going to the addictions instead of to God is sin!! All of us can take two or three seconds as we are making a decision to do right or wrong and we can choose righteousness – it all depends if we are worshipping our flesh or will we be willing to deny flesh and be on God’s potter’s wheel – obeying His Word!

Psalms 69:5 O God, you know my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from you.

Comments: Every choice/decision you make is important to God. Every word you speak you will give account to God!

Proverbs 28:13 He that covers his sins shall not prosper: but whoever confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy.

Comments: If you cover sin – you will not prosper – you must confess and FORSAKE the sin – not repeat it over and over again.

Isaiah 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Comments: Forsake the wicked thoughts, words and actions – DO NOT repeat them. If you are sincere with God, He will have mercy and pardon – but don’t play continual games with God – that is so disrespectful to God – when you sin on purpose – making a choice to sin – it’s slapping God in the face!

Luke 13:3 I tell you, No: but, except you repent, you shall all likewise perish.

Comments: Repentance means turning around – showing sincere sorrow – and not repeating the sins over and over again – it’s by choice – you cannot blame anyone but yourself!

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

Comments: This verse does not mean that we all keep sinning every day. But we all need a Savior – He was nailed to the cross for our sins. Every time we sin against God, it’s like we are nailing Him to that cross over and over.

Romans 6:10 For in that he died, he died to sin once: but in that he lives, he lives to God.

Comments: We are supposed to be dead to sin through the power of His blood and His Spirit. We are to be holy as He is holy! This is a command from God!

Ephesians 4:22 That you put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

Comments: Put off the old nature!! It’s by choice! We cannot blame our sinful choices on our circumstances or because another person does something that we allow to make us angry.

Colossians 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are on the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

Comments: Mortify means to subdue by self-control and discipline yourself – all sins that a person commits is a form of idolatry. This is serious in the sight of God – He does not play games with us! Continual repeating sin means we worship our selfish desires instead of worshiping God by obedience. God says obedience is better than sacrifice!

Colossians 3:6 For which things’ sake the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience:

Comments: Continual sinning will bring the wrath of God on the children of disobedience!!

Hebrews 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

Comments: God died on the cross in a human body and suffered horrible beatings, a crown of thorns forced on His head, nailed to a horrible cross. Are we going to choose to laugh in the face of God by our continual sinful actions???

Hebrews 12:1 Why seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which does so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Comments: Here again is a command – “lay aside every weight and sin” – we must stop sinning!!!!!!

Hebrews 12:3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest you be wearied and faint in your minds.

Comments: We are to hold dear the love of God that He proved toward us in his suffering and death for our salvation. How can we slap God’s face with continual sinning?????

Hebrews 12:4 You have not yet resisted to blood, striving against sin.

Comments: None of us has truly sacrificed anything for our salvation – Jesus paid it all!!

James 4:17 Therefore to him that knows to do good, and does it not, to him it is sin.

Comments: Any action we choose to do when we know it is not right is a sin unto us.

1 John 3:6-9King James Version (KJV)

Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

Comment: When we abide in God, we will not sin!

Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Comments: When we sin we are of the devil!!!

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Comments: When we are born of God and we allow His seed to remain in us, we cannot sin – there is no desire to sin – because God loves us so much and we love Him deeply and do not have a desire to sin against Him!

1 John 5:18

New International Version

We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the One who was born of God keeps them safe, and the evil one cannot harm them.

New Living Translation

We know that God’s children do not make a practice of sinning, for God’s Son holds them securely, and the evil one cannot touch them.

Comments: When we are children of God – we do not make a practice of sinning!!!!!! It’s by choice – no person, no circumstance can force us to sin against God when He lives in us – we live and move and have our being in Him!

English Standard Version

We know that everyone who has been born of God does not keep on sinning, but he who was born of God protects him, and the evil one does not touch him.

Hebrews 10:26-31New Living Translation (NLT)

26 Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins.

Comments: This is God’s truth – we cannot continually deliberately keep repeating sin over and over by our choice – playing games with God – and expect to be forgiven.

27 There is only the terrible expectation of God’s judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies. 28 For anyone who refused to obey the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.

29 Just think how much worse the punishment will be for those who have trampled on the Son of God, and have treated the blood of the covenant, which made us holy, as if it were common and unholy, and have insulted and disdained the Holy Spirit who brings God’s mercy to us.

Comments: We are trampling on God in the flesh – insulting the Holy Ghost that dwells in us.

30 For we know the one who said,

“I will take revenge.
    I will pay them back.”[a]

He also said,

“The Lord will judge his own people.”[b]

31 It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

My Comments:

My heart aches and I know the heart of God aches when anyone makes excuses for their continual sinful actions.

I choose not to sin!!!!! God has clear commands in the Word of God as to what we can do and what we cannot do and please the Lord. I make a choice daily in my conduct to not sin against others or sin against God. It is not about being super spiritual. It’s about being obedient unto the Lord. It’s about being holy as He is Holy.

I choose to allow God to sit on the throne of my heart – the seat of my emotions – I choose to give Him control over my thoughts, feelings and actions!!!!!

When a sinful thought-feeling comes into my mind, I talk to the Lord about it and make a decision to obey God through my actions and not allow my selfish/sinful desires to control me. Anyone can do this is there is a willingness to allow God to be in control instead of selfishness!! It’s being Holy Ghost controlled!!

If we want to blame others because of how we react to someone else, we are living the lie in the Garden of Eden – Adam blamed God for his disobedience – he told God, “It was the woman that you gave me.” Eve blamed it on the devil. NO! The devil planted the thought, but Adam and Eve together chose to disobey God!!

I pray every reader of these scriptures understand we will all stand before God and answer to Him for every thought, feeling and action. If we confess and forsake a sin, God will forgive us. But if we continue return to the same sin action over and over, we are playing games with God and we are not abiding in Him. We are being controlled by our sinful selfish desire and we are not living Holy and He is Holy! Look at the works of the flesh in Gals. The 5th chapter – Paul tells us if we are doing these sinful things – from adultery, fornication (porniea), pornography, even to outburts of anger and wrath – we shall not have a part in the kingdom of God.

The sign of receiving the Holy Ghost is speaking in tongues as happened on the Day of Pentecost – Acts 2. The evidence of the Holy Ghost dwelling in and controlling us is the Fruit of the Spirit.

Galatians 5:19-23New Living Translation (NLT)

19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

Comments: We must take up our cross and follow God. Nail our sinful lusts to the cross – die daily to self and live Holy as He is Holy!
