THOUGHT OF THE DAY!
In my providing counseling nationwide, I work with pastors and lay people. Daily I’m dealing with the power of the spoken word that has the power to destroy or heal.
If words are harsh and uncaring, they will destroy relationships. If words are God-controlled, they will encourage and lift up others.
Whether we are church leaders, spouses, friends or family members, we all have the power to hurt others or to love others through our words. One disparaging word can cut through the ‘heart’ like a knife.
The old adage says, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me.” This is a lie! A physical bruise or cut can heal, but abusive words penetrate the heart like a hot branding iron!
We ALL will give an account to God for very idle word that we speak. If we are not going to speak words of kindness, love, encouragement and hope, then do not speak at all!
Even if there is a conflict, God says, “Speak the truth, but do it in love.” None of us have an excuse to put others down or degrade people with our words and attitudes.
LET THE WORDS OF MY MOUTH AND THE MEDITATION OF MY HEART BE ACCEPTABLE IN THY SIGHT, O LORD, MY STRENGTH AND MY REDEEMER!!!
I’m counseling people daily who have been deeply wounded by spouses, friends and even people in ministry by words of ‘death’ spoken in to their lives. This should not be!
Filter your thoughts through God first before you speak. We all will answer to Him for every word!!
